An innovative finger pulse oximeter monitors patients wirelessly using breakthrough Bluetooth Smart technology.

The Nonin Medical Model 3230 is the company’s first finger pulse oximeter with Bluetooth Smart wireless technology, which provides a simplified automatic pairing protocol for the exchange of vital patient information over a secure wireless connection. The device also features oxygen saturation (SpO2) and pulse rate spot-checking monitoring algorithms specifically for patients with challenging conditions, thus providing accurate readings in patients with small or large fingers, good to low perfusion, and dark to light skin tones.

Other features include a large, patient-facing screen that provides simple, easy to understand information with added content in the datastream to help support the patient, while proprietary CorrectCheck technology advises the patient when the finger is not placed properly in the device. Spot-on connectivity via Bluetooth Smart wireless technology enables the monitor to connect into most telemedicine hubs. The long battery life, allowing for up to 2,200 spot checks on two AAA batteries, also helps minimize the introduction of hazardous materials into the patient environment. The Model 3230 is a product of Nonin Medical (Minneapolis, MN, USA).

“Bluetooth Smart simplifies device pairing and has a lower power draw than Bluetooth Classic technology,” said Mark VanderWerf, vice president of eHealth for Nonin Medical. “Bluetooth Smart also costs less to integrate, so we are able to offer customers the Model 3230 for half the cost and twice the battery life of our Model 9560, with the same accuracy and durability we are known for.”
