The central platform of the MEDICA 2015 (Düsseldorf, Germany) World Forum for Medicine, the world's largest medical trade fair, will present innovations in the field of sports medicine.

Internationally renowned experts, as well as representatives from innovation-driven companies such Adidas (Herzogenaurach, Germany), Under Armour (Washington DC, USA), and Microsoft will come together at the 3rd MEDICA Medicine + Sports Conference in order to present and discuss new solutions and technologies in sports medicine. The emphasis of the event will be on monitoring training and vital data, as well as creating appropriate activity programs for both popular and professional sports.

The two-day program of the conference will consist of five successive sessions as well as a “guided innovation tour” with a get-together afterwards. During the guided innovation tour, participants will be introduced to innovative health and fitness monitoring devices, such as Hocoma robotic sensor driven medical devices for functional movement therapy; Cosmed lung-function and performance diagnostics solutions; InBody devices for analyzing body composition; and Ondamed solutions for identifying dysfunctional areas of the body using electromagnetic fields.

Keynote speakers will include Carl Foster, MD, professor for kinesiology and sports science at the University of Wisconsin (Madison, USA) and former president of the American College of Sports Medicine; Prof. Wilhelm Bloch, MD, head of the department for molecular and cellular sports medicine at the University of Cologne (Germany), who will present new findings in the field of epigenic analysis; and Marco Suvilaakso, head of product management at Polar (Kempele, Finland), who will introduce developments ranging from fitness trackers to smart coaching systems.

More than 4,800 exhibitors from 60 countries will participate in MEDICA 2015, which will be held November 16–19, 2015, at the Messe Düsseldorf (Germany) fairgrounds. Of particular interest for sports medicine specialists and physiotherapists will be halls 4 and 5 (devices and products for physiotherapy and rehabilitation) as well as hall 15 (wearables and health-IT for monitoring vital data). The Sports Conference itself will be held November 17–18, 2015.
