Agfa HealthCare has joined with Schiller America to provide a solution for managing electrocardiograms (ECG images) electronically.

Agfa (Agfa; Mortsel, Belgium) and Schiller (Schiller, Toronto, Canada), a leading international manufacturer and supplier of ECGs, long-term ambulatory Holter ECG and a range of medical IT solutions, will provide a comprehensive data management solution for the Agfa IMPAX HeartStation ECG management system, automating the processing and storage of ECGs throughout the healthcare enterprise. The collaboration will also make the IMPAX HeartStation available through Schiller America to hospitals, clinics, and physician practices, and it will also be coupled with Schiller's ECG carts as a complete turnkey solution to help manage ECG images.

“By teaming with Schiller, we're in a position to offer our leading cardiology product, typically purchased by large healthcare institutions in combination with our cardiology PACS and CVIS, to an extended market of physician practices, diagnostic centers, and community hospitals,” said Rob Kenney, global marketing manager of the cardiology business unit at Agfa HealthCare. “This provides a unique opportunity for both the clinician and the patient to provide and receive enhanced, efficient diagnostic processes and care through the use of technology.”

“We are continuously looking for ways to bring our customers new technology to help them provide a higher quality of care and streamline clinician workflow,” said David Helowicz, general manager of Schiller America. “Through this joint effort, we will be in a position to be able to provide our current and future customers a complete solution to capture, store and interpret cardiac information electronically so it can be acted upon by the cardiologist at the point of care.”

The Agfa HealthCare's IMPAX HeartStation is an ECG management system that automates the processing, storage, and display of electrocardiograms throughout a healthcare enterprise. Extensive interoperability translates ECGs from resting, ambulatory, monitoring devices, and cardiac reports from stress, Holter, and event monitoring applications into a universally familiar, easy to read format. Study data from multiple exams can be rapidly accessed, making possible review, serial comparison, editing, and electronic signing of ECGs throughout the entire hospital enterprise.
