Prime Healthcare Acquires Four Acute Care Community Hospitals

Prime Healthcare Services (Ontario, CA, USA) has completed the acquisition of four acute care hospitals and affiliated entities, growing its network to 42 hospitals in 14 states throughout the United States.

The properties include the 88-bed Lehigh Regional Medical Center, the 331-bed Southern Regional Medical Center, the 153-bed Suburban Community Hospital, and the 152-bed River Valley Health Partners (RVHP). Lehigh Regional Medical Center (Lehigh Acres, FL, USA) offers a 12-bed emergency services department and other key service lines, including orthopedics and cardiology. Southern Regional Medical Center (Riverdale, GA, USA), operates a certified primary Stroke Center, an accredited Chest Pain Center, and one of the busiest emergency departments in the region.

Suburban Community Hospital (East Norriton, PA, USA), is also certified as a primary Stroke Center and will serve the community through its 30- room emergency department and other services, including bariatrics, cancer care, and cardiac rehabilitation. RVHP (East Liverpool OH, USA) is comprised of East Liverpool City Hospital and River Valley Physicians which provides eight primary care and specialty offices and the Ohio Valley Home Health Services (East Liverpool, OH, USA).

Prime Healthcare Foundation, the nonprofit affiliate of Prime Healthcare, acquired Southern Regional Medical Center, RVHP, and Suburban Community Hospital, and they will remain nonprofit facilities. Lehigh Regional Medical Center will become a for-profit hospital. Over the next five years, Prime Healthcare Services will commit more than USD 80 million to capital improvements at the four hospitals.
