MEDICA 2016 (Dusseldorf, Germany), the world’s leading trade fair for the medical industry, is attracting a high level of British healthcare technology companies who are keen to develop and nurture worldwide trade links after the Brexit.

MEDICA 2016, which is taking place between the 14th and 17th of November, provides companies in the United Kingdom with a global platform to meet with distributors and buyers in order to discuss business with existing contacts, and to meet with industry peers. The Association of British Healthcare Industries (ABHI; London, United Kingdom), which organized the UK Pavilion at MEDICA, will showcase cutting edge technologies and world-class innovations, which will highlight how these British developments are transforming the lives of patients and clinicians across the globe.

With 3,268 medical technology companies, including small, medium, and multinational enterprises employing 88,000 people, the UK healthcare sector generates £18.1 billion of turn over each year. In addition, prominent research and development (R&D) centers have established the UK as a world leader in healthcare innovation and technology. From the groundbreaking invention of hip replacement treatments and the use of ultrasound in modern medicine, to the development of the computerized tomography (CT) scanner and the first multi-articulated prosthetic hand, Britain has a reputation for turning innovative ideas into pioneering medical breakthroughs.

“We are extremely excited to be traveling to MEDICA and to showcase the high level of expertise that the UK has to offer. The UK is open for business and is keen to forge global healthcare links and MEDICA offers the perfect platform to do this,” said Paul Benton, international director of the ABHI. “Leading British businesses are bringing solutions to healthcare challenges that will transform the way care is provided in the future and will have the power to radically improve outcomes for patients, globally.”

With over 250 members, the ABHI leads the advocacy of the UK healthcare industry in order to advance access to medical technology. Membership includes some of the leading multinational businesses in the sector in the UK, right the way through to small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs).
