The Clearview Simplify D-dimer, a product of Inverness Medical (Princeton, NJ, USA), utilizes monoclonal antibody 3B6 for D-dimer assays. The test is easily performed and reduces the need for instrumentation or specialized training. It has a high negative-predictive value (NPV) for safe exclusion of venous thromboembolism.

Diagnostic imaging procedures required to give definitive diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or pulmonary embolism (PE) take significant time and resources. Clearview Simplify D-dimer, used in conjunction with a validated pre-test probability (PTP) score such as the Wells Algorithm, can safely rule-out DVT or PE in low-risk patients.

Every year DVT occurs in about one in 2,000 people in the general population, ranging from less than one in 3,000 people under the age of 40 up to one in a few hundred in those over 80. However, diagnosing venous thromboembolism (VTE) based on clinical evaluation alone is not accurate. Only 20-30% of symptomatic patients have DVT, therefore 70% of procedures are an unnecessary use of valuable clinical time and resources.
