Beijing Airport To Use DR Technology To Treat Medical Emergencies for Travelers During Olympics

The newly completed T3 building, the largest terminal building in the world, is scheduled for opening in March 2008 in anticipation of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games in August 2008. The terminal houses the Physical Examination Center, which was built to meet the emergency healthcare needs of airport passengers.

"After an intense and thorough analysis, we chose the IDC X-Series DR solution because it will provide us with superior image quality, shortened workflow, and the ideal features for an emergency room environment,” said Wang Jun, CEO of the Physical Examination Center. "In addition, we believe the 1600 X-Series will provide the patient throughput we require to handle one of the largest and busiest airports in the world, especially during the upcoming Olympic Games.”

IDC is partnering on this contract with its regional distributor Beijing East Whale Image Technology Co., Ltd (Beijing, China). The company provides advanced medical equipment, service, and support to healthcare facilities in China. "During our work with IDC this past year, we have seen the effectiveness of the company's CCD- [charged coupled device]-based DR technology,” said Sean Zhu, CEO of Beijing East Whale Image Technology. "We are proud that together with IDC we can be a part of the infrastructure for ensuring the well-being of those using the Beijing Capital Airport, especially during the Beijing Olympics.”

This contract is the latest of several IDC deals, for both private and government facilities in the Asia/Pacific Rim region, during the past three months. Sales of the X-Series of CCD detectors are driving IDC's continuing international growth.
