Pocket Ultrasound System Awarded MDEA Gold

The system, which is the world's first pocket ultrasound, won in the category of Radiological and Electromechanical Devices.

The Acuson P10 ultrasound system is a little larger than a typical personal digital assistant (PDA), weighs only 726 grams, and fits easily into a physician's lab coat pocket. The device delivers valuable visual information at the first patient contact, which is intended for complementary initial diagnostic care and triage, especially in emergency care, cardiology, and obstetrics.

Judging of the entries was conducted by an impartial panel of jurors who carefully review each product submission. Criteria for judging included user-related design and engineering features that provide enhanced benefits to the patient as well as improve the overall delivery of healthcare.

The MDEA competition is a leading awards program for the medical technology community, recognizing the achievements of medical product manufacturers and the individuals who are responsible for the groundbreaking developments that are changing the face of healthcare.
