Display System Helps Clinicians Perform Interventional Procedures Effectively

Covering an area bigger than the equivalent of six standard monitors, it is now available commercially.

The FlexVision XL, developed by Philips Healthcare (Best, The Netherlands), has received favorable feedback from clinicians that used a prototype of the solution. The flexible viewing capabilities, clear zoomed images, and ease of use were appreciated by the early users. With FlexVision XL, clinicians can perform procedures how and where it is best for them, their team and patient, without worrying where the display is.

In current interventional settings, clinicians are performing more complex procedures, with smaller devices, in complex anatomy--a difficult combination. Clinicians often have to sort through diagnostic information from multiple sources to help guide their intervention. To help clinicians with these challenging viewing requirements the system provides viewing flexibility and supports clinicians in performing procedures more efficiently.

Key benefits include: the SuperZoom function with advanced image-sharpening algorithms lets clinicians magnify images and make out fine details without needing to move closer to the display; clinicians can select an on-screen layout of images that suits the way they work, change it at any time during the procedure, and customize the layouts by switching sources; and clinicians are able to manage multiple video sources on one screen and manage them at tableside

Professor Moret, director of neuroradiology at the Foundation Rothschild (Paris, France), who has been testing the FlexVision XL since 2008, said, "I have found the FlexVision to be a great help as it allows me to enlarge images, enabling me to easily see the level of detail that I need from wherever I need to see it during complex neuroradiology procedures. The technology gives me a better appreciation of the vessel structure in the brain.”

FlexVision XL can be fully integrated into the Philips Allura Xper system and easily controlled at the tableside by the Xper Module. The FlexVision XL has been used at test sites in Paris, Berlin (Germany), and Seattle (WA, USA).
