One major challenge faced by the industry has been the lack of capital available for technologies that require high initial investments, such as digital systems.

However, with the economy recovering and funds becoming available to potential buyers, the unit shipment volume is expected to gain momentum in 2011, according to market research company, Frost & Sullivan (Palo Alto, CA, USA).

It is essential for vendors to justify the high initial investments of digital solutions with an emphasis on operational cost savings.”
