Image Volume-Rendering and 3D Visualization Technology Maximizes Performance

IntelePACS 3D allows radiologists to make better and faster diagnoses, through better workflow orchestration, display automation, and usability. Intelerad Medical Systems (Denver, CO, USA), a developer in medical imaging PACS and workflow solutions, announced their new IntelePACS 3D module, incorporating Fovea's (Palo Alto, CA, USA) high-definition volume rendering (HDVR) directly into Intelerad's software.

With the increasing amount of data acquired by modern modalities and the growth of teleradiology, embedded high-performance volumetric rendering is a must have for all radiologists reading cross-sectional data--whether from local or remote workstations. Intelerad uses technology to increase 3D performance and speed for its distributed radiology solutions.

Intelerad's IntelePACS 3D adds power to Intelerad's InteleViewer reading software by employing intelligent, hybrid client and server rendering technology. It also optimizes speed through its multimode image streaming design, while taking full advantage of 64-bit and multicore central processing unit (CPU) resources for top performance.

"Having the Fovia HDVR technology directly embedded into InteleViewer enables unprecedented workflow gains through display automation, such as the creation of layout protocols that automatically generate ‘on-the-fly' reformats for direct comparisons between current and prior studies,” said Rick Rubin, chief engineering officer at Intelerad. "IntelePACS 3D features multiplanar reformatting, maximum intensity projections, and high-definition volume rendering directly within InteleViewer, offering a consistent and improved user experience within a single interface.”
