Mobile Lab Offers On-Site Analysis

A mobile Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) system allows laboratorians to perform fast, accurate, lab-quality analysis on location. More...
Called the TravelIR, the system uses video microscopy to examine the area of a sample in contact with a patented diamond ATR (attenuated total reflectance) element, which provides high durability and sensitivity in the analysis of materials. Using spectral libraries, TravelIR permits an on-site analyst to immediately identify the chemical composition of most samples.

TravelIR is the product of SensIR Technologies (Danbury, CT, USA), an innovator of FT-IR spectroscopic instruments and accessories. TravelIR permits micro or macro analysis without sample preparation and presents single- or multi-bounce crystal options to achieve superior spectra. The system can analyze abrasives, corrosives, gels and paste, and most liquids and solids.

The TravelIR is equally at home on the loading dock, as a field instrument miles from civilization, at a hazardous spill, or at accidents, crime scenes or drug raids--in fact, at any locations where speed, simplicity of use and accurate analysis of substances are essential, notes Robert Sebes, president of SensIR Technologies.
