Alliance Develops International Telediagnostic Network

By HospiMedica staff writers
Posted on 08 Feb 2001
Two companies are combining their technologies to develop and market an Internet network for international health care organizations that will support video conferencing and high-resolution image transfer for medical diagnosis and consultation. More...
The network will be able to support several simultaneous conferencing sessions, voice and data convergence, as well as instant high-resolution digital microscope image transfers between multiple remote sites.

The network will feature the eHealthStat telediagnostic network and telemedicine offerings of Apollo Telemedicine, Inc. (Falls Church, VA, USA) together with the telecommunications technology and Internet network management services of Marconi plc (London, UK). Pathologists, doctors, and health care providers access eHealthStat for real-time diagnoses, reducing the time and cost of patient care. A patent that covers any system using a remote-controlled robotic microscope to make pathology diagnoses has been issued on the telepathology technology and exclusively licensed to Apollo Telemedicine.

"This partnership harnesses the power of the Internet to bring innovative telediagnostic capabilities to the healthcare marketplace,” said Ronald S. Weinstein, M.D., medical director of Apollo Telemedicine.
