Multichannel Electrocardiographs

By HospiMedica staff writers
Posted on 14 Nov 2005
Two new multichannel electrocardiographs are designed for use in settings where flexibility and efficiency are important and they come ready for use with electronic medical records (EMRs).

The CP 100 and CP 200 can administer patient tests and manage patient information. More...
Both offer flexible report formatting, inexpensive test storage, and intuitive design and functionality. The two units were developed by Welch Allyn (Skaneateles Falls, NY, USA;). Both units can interface with the company's CardioPerfect workstation software to transfer patient data from the device to an EMR.

The CP 100 offers a non-interpretive 12-lead resting electrocardiogram (ECG) with an optional interpretation software package that offers doctors a second opinion. The alphanumeric keyboard and liquid crystal diode (LCD) display help troubleshoot lead quality problems. The unit comes with a high-resolution thermal printer that generates full-sized reports in customizable formats.

The CP 200 has the same features as the CP 100 but, in addition, offers a full-color display and dedicated function keys that speed access to common actions. This unit can store up to 50 ECGs for later review, editing, and interpretation.

"Connectivity and efficiency are on everyone's minds, from the hospital to the clinic, to the office-based physician,” said Peter Glocker, senior group product manager, cardiopulmonary, at Welch Allyn. "Our new ECGs reduce the amount of time it takes to capture, analyze, and manage data, which means providers have more time to spend with their patients.”
