Kodak's CT Wins Design Award

By HospiMedica staff writers
Posted on 17 Apr 2001
A Medical Design Excellence Award was won by the DirectView CR 800 system (computed radiography) in the competition sponsored by Canon Communications LLC. More...
Jurors said the CR 800 "is a high-quality system that can improve patient comfort and reduce trauma.” They also noted that the system "allows the caregiver to remain close to the patient and can promote a rapid diagnosis.” The CR 800 was designed and is manufactured by Eastman Kodak Company (Rochester, NY, USA).

"The CR 800 system is the first computed radiography unit to feature an all-in-one design,” said Robin Hodownes, Kodak's marketing manager for CR. "All components needed for image capture, processing, quality assurance, and image handling/networking are contained in one ergonomically-designed unit. This compact design allows CR units to be placed closer to patients and examination rooms. Competitive systems require additional components such as DICOM worklist and QA workstations.”
