The Association for Laboratory Automation (ALA) has introduced the New Product Award (NPA) designation that will highlight the newest and most innovative products to be unveiled at LabAutomation2007, which will be held in Palm Springs (CA, USA), January 27-31, 2007.

"We are extremely excited about this new program and the timing is right,” said ALA Greg Dummer, executive director. More...
"ALA's LabAutomation event has always served as the platform for the companies in this market space to launch new products and services. Last year, there were more than 25 new products launched at LabAutomation.”

More information on eligibility criteria, rules and regulations for the ALA NPA designation, is available at the LabAutomation2007. The panel of judges, which includes working media in attendance, will consider the following four categories in review of the new products at LabAutomation2007: market opportunity--narrow or broad in scope, impact on the field of laboratory automation and technology, extraordinary technical originality, and quality of supporting data.

Lead NPA judge and ALA leader of the marketing advisory group, Jay Smith, said the ALA NPA designation will be conferred upon the top three winning product entries in the competition.

"I believe we will be looking for new products to demonstrate that they have the chance to be widely adopted in the marketplace over the next 10 years, not just this year,” observed Mr. Smith.

The ALA is a worldwide organization representing leaders in all aspects of laboratory automation. ALA seeks to provide a greater understanding of the importance and value of automation technologies in laboratory settings, and to advance science and promote education related to laboratory automation by encouraging the study, advancing the science, and improving the practice of medical and laboratory automation.
