Posted on 16 Apr 2007
A web-based electrocardiogram (ECG) management system unifies examinations from different manufacturer's carts into one database for seamless transfer of clinical data.

The HeartStation ECG management system is a comprehensive data management system that automates the processing and storage of ECGs, providing the hospital's physicians, technicians, and clinical staff with timely access to secure ECG exams and reports from any point on the enterprise network. Data from a variety of ECG equipment manufacturers are managed by a tightly integrated structured results approach. By providing a single, unified point of access to past and present ECG exams from disparate multimodalities, the management system facilitates rapid review, serial comparison, editing, and electronic signing of ECGs from any location. The HeartStation ECG management system is a product Agfa HealthCare (Mortsel, Belgium), and supports current and past models of ECG carts.

"The HeartStation module supports our vision of developing a cardiovascular electronic patient record (EPR) that facilitates the seamless transfer of images and clinical data, thus increasing workflow and efficiency,” said Richard M. Regnante, M.D., a cardiology consultant for cardiovascular program planning and former chief of cardiology at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center (Brockton, MA, USA). "We deploy the solution to address the complete cardiac care cycle.”
