By HospiMedica staff writers
Posted on 10 Dec 2007
Product-related e-learning systems have recently been developed to educate users at their own pace.

Agfa HealthCare (Mortsel, Belgium), a leading provider of information technology- (IT)-enabled clinical workflow and diagnostic imaging systems, has developed two new product-related e-learning courses that were recently presented at the annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) 2007, held in Chicago (IL, USA) from November 25-30, 2007. More...

These e-learning courses encompass Agfa HealthCare's latest picture archiving and communication system (PACS) Impax 6, and an introduction to IPlan, its leading hospital scheduling system. The interactive e-learning packages allow training for users of Agfa HealthCare solutions at their own pace, whenever it suits them best. They also serve as an interactive online reference tool for future use, to support ongoing education.

Agfa HealthCare's Impax 6 fully animated e-learning course introduces the general concepts and various functionalities of the system, Agfa HealthCare's application for imaging-based planning, interpretation, and results distribution. It is particularly suitable for all healthcare professionals who are enterprise users, or users of previous Impax versions who have recently migrated to Impax 6. It is also used as an introductory training for all advanced users of Impax 6, such as radiologists.

The fully animated interactive IPlan e-learning course will help users to get started with the IPlan scheduling solution, which allows hospital staff and referring physicians to make and view appointments. It covers all the main areas of the system, as well as its associated general functionalities.

Agfa HealthCare has been providing its customers with basic and advanced e-training courses for its products and systems since 2004. These courses offer hospitals and healthcare facilities the opportunity to optimally use the company's systems, ensuring an efficient implementation and use by all relevant staff members. All courses are offered online and are hosted either on Agfa HealthCare's secure servers or run on the healthcare facility's own network.

Agfa HealthCare's e-learning courses were developed by its e-learning specialists and are supported by product management and application specialists. The Academy is part of an innovation program that aims to facilitate the daily work of thousands of Agfa HealthCare customers worldwide. At this time, the courses are available in English, but various other languages will be offered in the near future.

"The Academy of Agfa HealthCare is dedicated to helping the company's customers improve the way they work with our leading solutions, by providing them with the necessary insight, training, and information, to the benefit of patients and clinicians alike,” stated Stefaan van Hooydonk, head of the Agfa HealthCare Academy. "The feedback from customers who have seen and used our e-learning programs is unanimously positive. The animation, interactivity, and ease of use of the packages have been well received, and we are excited to be able to offer these services to our new customers.”
