The system enables structured reports to be easily created and distributed and images to be accessed from any in-hospital or remote location.

Agfa HealthCare (Mortsel, Belgium), a leading provider of information technology- (IT)-enabled clinical workflow and diagnostic imaging solutions, presented its Impax Cardiovascular Suite with integrated Echocardiography module for the first time at the EuroEcho meeting, held in Lisbon, Portugal, from December 5-8, 2007.

The intuitive Echocardiography module has the capability to generate natural language reports in a wide variety of languages, facilitating information sharing between cardiologist, referring physician, and patient. The module provides a colorful, graphic presentation of measurement data aids trending analysis and follow-up. It also enables research and business intelligence data mining, offering user-friendly interfaces for querying. Standards-based informatics features of the Impax Cardiovascular Suite include full integration with picture archiving and communication systems (PACS) modalities, and hemodynamic systems; interfaces and connectivity to hospital information systems; and automated and customized submission to European and national registries.

The system supports improved productivity by providing fast access to a consolidated view of all cross-modality cardiology and radiology images within a single review station. Designed to support the most demanding clinical workflow, the ImpaxCardiovascular Suite delivers innovative features, including advanced image management functionalities, tightly integrated structured reporting, vendor-neutrality, legacy equipment image management, and secure global access to diagnostic data.

Agfa HealthCare's Echocardiography module facilitates the management of digital echocardiograms from Echo carts from a wide range of vendors. Through its structured report design, data entry is facilitated and follows the cardiologist's workflow.

Agfa HealthCare's Cardiovascular Suite is installed in more than 500 leading cardiology centers across the globe, giving cardiologists rapid access to non-invasive and invasive imaging exam and report information, and providing protection for critical patient data.
