Echocardiography Platform Offers Advanced Features

By HospiMedica staff writers
Posted on 05 Dec 2000
An echocardiography platform offers enhancements that make the procedure more consistent, reliable, and productive. More...
These include tissue equalization, coherent contrast imaging, and eUltrasound solution.

At the push of one button, tissue equalization (TEQ) correctly identifies whether the ultrasound echoes are coming from soft tissue or artifacts and immediately sets the correct brightness for any soft tissue echo. TEQ can be applied to every ultrasound exam, which makes it ideal for stress echocardiography. Coherent contrast imaging allows continuous imaging of contrast agents with minimum bubble destruction, enabling doctors to clearly see the results from the contrast agent.

The eUltrasound feature improves productivity by providing cardiologists and sonographers with immediate access to online patient exam data, beginning with the time the patient enters the echo department until the generation of the final report and billing notification. From a portable workstation, dynamic 2-D gray scale or color Doppler images and patient data and calculations can be transferred from the ultrasound system to this online file.

These enhancements are designed for use with the Sequoia or Aspen ultrasound systems of Acuson Corp. (Mountain View, CA, USA) and were introduced at the Scientific Sessions of the American Heart Association in New Orleans (LA, USA).
