4-D Ultrasound System Cleared by FDA

Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Called the Voluson 730, the system is from Medison Co., LTD (Seoul, Korea).

The Voluson 730 with real-time 4-D acquires images in up to 16 volume frames per second with no degradation or loss of information. With the increased frame rate, the real-time 4-D not only provides real-time movement of the fetus and fetal heart, but also offers clinical advantages in performing surgical procedures such as biopsy, aspiration, localization, and evaluation of tumors. The high frame rate also offers the ability to visualize fast-moving structures, including fetal heart and high-velocity blood flow.

The Voluson 730 incorporates Medison's True 3-D technology and also uses automatic volume data acquisition to eliminate the inconsistencies of manual acquisition used in other 3-D technologies. The system's digital architecture offers a high-speed signal processor to obtain the highest quality of 3D volume information, which can demonstrate, for example, real-time fetal movement.
