Posted on 10 Sep 2003
Under an agreement to develop new tools for diagnosing prostate cancer, DakoCytomation (Copenhagen, Denmark) has received a worldwide license for the commercial use of an antibody of Northwest Therapeutics (Bothell, WA, USA) that recognizes the key prostate cancer marker, prostate specific membrane antigen (PSMA).

PSMA is a glycoprotein expressed in virtually all prostate cancers that will be useful in diagnosing and confirming prostate cancer and may also be useful as a marker for angiogenesis in other cancers. More...
DykoCytomation currently offers tissue-staining antibodies specific to two other well-established prostate cancer markers: prostate-specific antigen (PSA) and prostate-specific acid phosphatase (PAP). In addition, the company offers three serum tests for PSA.

"DakoCytomation is proud to add the PSMA antibody to our growing line of clinically relevant prostate cancer markers,” said Dennis Chenoweth, corporate vice president of diagnostics at DakoCytomation. "We will continue to expand our portfolio of cancer markers to aid in the management of all cancer types.”
