Analyte-Specific Reagents for Cystic Fibrosis

New analyte-specific reagents (ASR) for the detection of mutations in the gene associated with cystic fibrosis (CF) are now available, according to the manufacturer, Tm Bioscience Corp. More...
(Toronto, Canada).

These Tag-It cystic fibrosis products have been manufactured to ASR specifications. CF carrier screening is currently the world's largest and fastest growing human genetic testing market. The Tag-It CF ASRS will be used by CLIA-certified laboratories to identify 39 mutations and four variants of the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) gene. These include the most common genetic mutations that are of interest to commercial diagnostic laboratories and include the mutations recommended by the American College of Medical Genetics.

The Tag-It cystic fibrosis ASRs complement the company's expanding series of Tag-It genetic tests that address the rapid growth in CF carrier testing. All genetic tests from Tm Bioscience are based on the Tm Universal Array Platform, which utilizes a proprietary universal tag system that allows for easy optimization, product development, and expansion. Assays from Tm operate on the Luminex xMAP system, a bead-based instrument growing in popularity in the clinical marketplace.
