New Closed-Tube Sampling Device

By HospiMedica staff writers
Posted on 18 Oct 2004
A new closed-tube sampling (CTS) device is designed to increase lab efficiency, improve test turnaround time, and protect laboratory staff from biohazards and repetitive strain injuries.

The CTS device is used on the Synchron LX20 Pro and Lxi 725 clinical systems of Beckman Coulter, Inc. More...
(Fullerton, CA, USA) and can now be used to accommodate Sarstedt S-Monovette blood collection tubes, as well as the Hemogard and Greiner Vacuette tubes. The LX20 Pro and Lxi 725 are the only chemistry systems on the market with CTS technology. This technology features a device with the ability to pierce the rubber specimen tube cap, allowing the sample to be aspirated automatically through the cap. As a result, de-capping and re-capping specimen tubes for chemistry analysis is reduced significantly.

The Synchron LX20 PRO's test menu includes more than 100 tests comprised of general chemistries, critical care chemistries, proteins, serologies, and esoteric chemistries as well as therapeutic drug monitoring and drugs-of-abuse testing (DAT) reagents. The Lxi 725 features around 140 chemistry and immunoassay tests and incorporates parallel processing technology, which allows both to be performed simultaneously.
