Vital Images Software to Integrate CAD Technology

(Nashua, NH, USA), a computer-aided detection (CAD) software company, to integrate iCAD's Second Look CT (computed tomography) Colon CAD application into Vitrea 2, Vital Images' flagship software.

CAD is a software technology designed to identify suspicious regions during CT screening scans, and this new CAD capability is intended to assist physicians in finding polyps that could lead to colon cancer. Under the agreement, Vital Images will distribute the new CAD option pending the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)'s regulatory review.

Radiologists used the InnerviewGI colon option only to perform a virtual colonoscopy and search for potential polyps or other irregularities.
