Novel Lab-on-a-Slide Line

By HospiMedica staff writers
Posted on 30 Jan 2005
A new line of slides with high optical quality offers live-cell culturing and high-resolution microscopy on the same slide.

Called micro-Slides (µ-Slides), these slides can be used for all fluorescence-based techniques and in combination with phase contrast, differential interference contrast (DIC), and confocal microscopy. More...
The slides are designed to handle cells or tissue samples in parallel. The setup of µ-Slide 18 well allows mounting of 18 different samples, and facilitates washing and staining steps. Even down to the smallest 30 µl volume, cell- growth conditions are preserved while minimizing the consumption of valuable reagents. The high optical quality allows use for cell-based assays in research and high throughput applications.

The µ–Slides are made of high-quality plastic material that is chemically robust and exhibits perfect optical properties. Placed in an incubator, gas exchange allows cell growth inside the channels over time. Various protein and polymer coatings are available. The slides are available in eight different formats, among them are the first commercially available disposable perfusion devices.

The line was developed by ibidi GmbH (Munich, Germany).
