Innovative Hematology Analyzer

By HospiMedica staff writers
Posted on 23 Mar 2005
An analyzer based on new technology offers several advantages for the detailed diagnosis of hematology pathologies.

Called ABX Pentra DF 120, the analyzer employs new technology called ABX Double Diff Matrix that significantly reduces manual differentials, enabling scientists for the first time to automatically distinguish three different cell lines involved in leukopoiesis: granulocytic, monocytic, and lymphocytic. With the integration of a slide-maker called SPS Evolution, throughput can reach 120 slides per hour. Full patient information is offered through the Expert Validation Station and accompanying software.

The ABX Pentra ML increases workflow by utilizing an exclusive multi-link concept that allows up to three hematology analyzers to be connected together. First, the laboratory information system (LIS) provides the work list, and then the ABX Pentra ML ensures that the workload is optimized. With two analyzers, 240 samples per hour can be handled.

These new products, to be introduced at EUROMEDLAB 2005 in Glasglow (UK) in May 2005, were developed by Horiba ABX (Montpellier, France). The company was known as ABX Diagnostics until November 2004, when the name was changed to Horiba ABX. Horiba Group now has 38 subsidiaries in 25 countries around the world.
