Integrated Plate-Changing System

By HospiMedica staff writers
Posted on 20 Apr 2005
A new integrated plate-changing system is designed for use with the Veloce micro-parallel liquid chromatography (LC) system.

The plate-changing system automates the exchange of microwell plates for use with the Veloce system autosampler, benefiting users who are seeking to increase their analytic throughput for a variety of drug-discovery applications. More...

The plate-changing system holds up to 50 standard microplates. By storing plates in vertical towers, the plate-changing system has a relatively small footprint that minimizes space requirements in the lab. The system can be easily incorporated into users' current automation workflow and liquid-handling process. By enabling users to control plate selection via barcode entry, the Veloce system facilitates full automation LC-based assays.

The software delivers sampling precision by enabling the user to preprogram sample sequences for routine use. The user-friendly format does not require specific knowledge to operate, and it frees scientists to perform other research activities throughout the duration of the analyses. The system was developed by Nanostream, Inc. (Pasadena, CA, USA), which provides high-throughput microfluidic analytic systems to companies involved in drug discovery and development.

"Labs are facing more pressure to increase analysis capacity with fewer resources,” noted Hau H. Duong, vice president of engineering, Nanostream."We want to equip scientists with high-throughout tools like the integrated plate-changing system to accomplish more with less operating time.”
