New Robotic Lab Workstation

A new workstation employs state-of-the-art robotic manipulation to make liquid handling safer, easier, and more flexible for laboratory workers.

Both robotic and liquid-handling functions are contained in the robotic arm, which glides on a multi-length X-bar to access the workspace and integrated or surrounding modules. More...
The miniature-toothed wheel pumps are also housed in the arm and require minimal maintenance. Called Xantus, the workstation is the product of Sias AG (Hombrechtikon, Switzerland).

Xantus is available in a single-arm or dual-arm version and can be equipped with up to 18 sampling tips, or up to 8 tips and a 360o rotating robotic handler. The workstation can be easily integrated with different functional modules, including microplate readers and washers, shakers, and the Sias Ixion microplate centrifuge. Sias notes that Xantus is a perfect platform for original equipment manufacturer (OEM) applications, simplifying both system integration and free-standing robotic automation.
