Agfa HealthCare (Mortsel, Belgium) has agreed to a multi-million pound deal with the Nuffield Hospital group, a large, private healthcare provider in the United Kingdom. More...

The deal calls for the installation of Agfa HealthCare's next-generation picture archiving and communications system (PACS) Impax 6.2, Agfa's radiology information system (RIS), computed radiography (CR) systems, and Initiate MPI (Master Patient Index). The installation will begin in January 2007, with all 40 hospitals expected to be complete by December 2007.

"Following a comprehensive tender with several UK PACS providers, the decision to go with Agfa HealthCare was based on the company's ability to deliver the project in a tight time-frame and to provide the level of integration required in a complex multi-site organization,” said Dr. Mohammed Hussein, PACS project manager and technical consultant, Nuffield Hospital group. "With its exceptional support infrastructure and innovative solutions, the Nuffield Hospital group feels that Agfa HealthCare will be able to provide the best long-term partnership to meet our IT [information technology] requirements for the foreseeable future.”

"We appreciate Nuffield showing their faith in our ability to deploy their comprehensive IT strategy. This is a very large project that is defining their new business strategy moving forward,” said Adrian Stevens, HealthCare director, Agfa HealthCare, Northern Europe.

"We're truly delighted Nuffield has chosen Agfa HealthCare as their partner to enable them to transition into the fully digital imaging and data-management environment. Agfa HealthCare's proven track record as a healthcare IT integrator as demonstrated under the NHS [National Health Service] IT program was critical to securing this project with Nuffield,” added Grant Witheridge, UK country manager, Agfa HealthCare.

Nuffield Hospital Group is comprised of 39 hospitals in England and one in Scotland.
