New Tools for Solid Tumor Analysis

By HospiMedica staff writers
Posted on 08 Jun 2001
A comprehensive solution for immunohistochemistry (IHC) testing of solid tumors, called Immunometrix, offers an extensive list of immunohistochemistry antibodies, high- quality slide preparation, and a breadth of testing services to meet the needs of a range of clients.

Immunometrix was developed by Esoterix Oncology (Brentwood, TN, USA). More...
Around 20% of cancer cases show inconclusive histopathology, states Esoterix. When morphology alone is insufficient to draw diagnostic conclusions, immunohistochemistry studies are required to determine an accurate diagnosis. New and better antibodies are continually being produced to increase diagnostic certainty. In other cases, the diagnosis could be unequivocal, but IHC can provide valuable prognostic or predictive information to assist in treatment decisions. Immunometrix services include a selection of antibodies with and without interpretations.

Esoterix Oncology provides flow cytometry, cancer cytogenetics, and molecular diagnostics. The company says an extensive database of complex cases makes
Esoterix a valuable consultative resource. "As an industry leader, Esoterix Oncology has expanded its services substantially beyond flow cytometry and cytogenetics into all areas of oncology testing with the addition of Immunometrix,” said Gary A. Kitos, vice president and general manager.
