Multi-Analyte Test for Autoimmune Disorders

By HospiMedica staff writers
Posted on 28 Dec 2001
A multi-analyte test system is designed to aid in the diagnosis of various autoimmune disorders by detecting nine separate analytes in human serum. More...
The test has been cleared by the U.S. Food and drug Administration (FDA).

The system is based on the LabMAP technology of Luminex Corp., offering analyses of patient specimens in a homogeneous, quantitative assay format. The test, called AtheNA Multi-Lyte ANA (antinuclear antibodies), is the product of Zeus Scientific Inc. (Branchburg, NJ, USA). The company's Active Calibration Technology adjusts the calibration curve within every well to match the sample's particular conditions, and checks the accuracy and validity of the calibration curve. As a result, the kit provides a calibration curve for every test and every patient.

The LabMAP system performs up to 100 assays on a single drop of fluid with the capability for both medium- and high-throughput assay applications. The system combines the use of low-cost microsphere-based assays with small lasers, advanced digital signal processors, and proprietary software.
