Automated Urine Chemistry Analyzer

By HospiMedica staff writers
Posted on 21 Feb 2002
A new urine chemistry analyzer performs 12 tests on urine, including nine chemistries, specific gravity by refractometer, color, and clarity. More...
The analyzer offers an alternative to urine strip readers now available.

The system is designed around a universal sample transfer rack that provides automatic, unattended batch processing of up to 210 samples at a throughput of 225 samples per hour. Called the Aution Max AX-4280, the analyzer is the world's smallest, fully automated strip reader, says Iris Diagnostics Division, which developed the analyzer. Iris is a division of International Remote Imaging Systems (IRI, Chatsworth, CA, USA) and a leading supplier of automated urinalysis technology, with workstations in major medical institutions throughout the world. The AX-4280 is manufactured by Arkray, Inc. (Kyoto, Japan).

"The AX-4280 combines reliability, functionality, and ease of use to meet the stringent requirements of the most demanding clinical laboratories,” said Kelly Bigliardi, president of Iris Diagnostics.
