Automated Assays for Hormone Recept

In premenopausal and postmenopausal women, ER and PR status can be used to assess patient response to hormonal forms of adjuvant therapy as well as predict the likelihood of a relapse in disease. The proprietary clones (ER88 and PR88) that produce the antibodies for ER and PR, respectively, were developed by BioGenex Laboratories, Inc. (San Ramon, CA, USA).

The antibodies have been cleared by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in conjunction with the staining systems of BioGenex in either manual or automated protocols. Both antibodies provide sharp and easily interpretable nuclear immunostaining with zero-to-minimal background, says BioGenex. The company has a large installed based of automated staining systems that perform all-in-one, all-at-once functions for cell and tissue testing, such as immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, and special stains.
