High-Throughput Diagnostics System

By HospiMedica staff writers
Posted on 09 Dec 2002
A new system enables laboratorians to perform multiple autoimmune diagnostic tests simultaneously and at high speed.

The system, called Fidis, provides a solution to the increasing complexity of autoimmune disease diagnostics and allows doctors to make rapid decisions. More...
Fidis covers 90% of laboratory needs in the autoimmune field, according to the developer, BMD (Biomedical Diagnostics, Marne-la-Vallee, France). BMD designed Fidis around the xMap system of Luminex under various licensing agreements. Fidis is based on standards adaptable to all laboratory sizes in the international market.

The first version of Fidis is available in four different forms: Fidis Connective (nine tests), Fidis Celiac (three tests), Fidis Thyroid (two tests), and Fidis Rheumatoid (two tests). Thus, using Fidis Connective, it is possible to simultaneously submit up to 96 samples to the nine tests. Following a one-hour incubation period, the 864 results will be legible within 30 minutes, using flow cytometry. Also, Fidis has the ability to handle simultaneous submission of up to 96 samples to all the 16 tests possible with the four available kits in a random access mode

"Fidis means we can offer a totally new product that we firmly believe will become a tool of reference in the laboratory and diagnostics instrumentation market,” said Daniel Pierron, CEO of BMD.
