Integrated Chemistry System for Testing Applications

By HospiMedica staff writers
Posted on 27 Aug 2003
The first in a new series of chemistry systems is designed to simply and efficiently integrate chemistry, special chemistry, immunoassays, and infectious disease assays. More...
The system has been cleared by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The system integrates up to 80 routine and special chemistry assays on board through the use of intelligent parallel processing. Called Vitros 5,1 FS, the system is the first in a Fusion series being developed by Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics (Raritan, NJ, USA). The system consists of multiple chemistry, immunodiagnostics, and integrated systems for low- medium-, and high-volume testing applications. It is the first system to support Ortho's new Vitros MicroTip reagents, which will provide an extended menu of special chemistry and immunoassay methods.

"The introduction of the Vitros 5,1 FS will allow us to double our current test menu while continuing to provide the simplified system operation that our customers have come to expect,” said Laurel LaBauve, general manager and vice president of the worldwide clinical laboratory franchise for Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics.
