An agreement to integrate their respective ultrasound technologies into a new US system for breast imaging has been announced by Siemens Medical Solutions (Erlangen, Germany) and U-Systems, Inc. More...
(San Jose, CA, USA).

The new unit will combine the ultrasound engine of the Siemens Sonoline Antares US system with the innovative transducer and image display of U-Systems. U-System has developed a full-field breast ultrasound (FFBU) system that images the whole breast and is designed to complement mammography as an aid for radiologists in the detection and diagnosis of breast cancer.

"Ultrasound, as an adjunct to mammography, is proven to be the most important breast imaging complement for the detection and diagnosis of breast cancer,” said Joseph Pepper, president and CEO of U-Systems. "This agreement combines our innovative transducer and image display technologies with Siemens' premium ultrasound technology, giving radiologists a cost-effective ultrasound solution to complement mammography.”
