Partnership to Integrate MRI with CAD

Siemens Medical Solutions and Invivo Corp., a subsidiary of Intermagnetics General Corp., have announced a strategic partnership that will integrate Invivo's computer-aided-detection (CAD) system with Siemens' Magnetom magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) systems for advanced breast MRI technology.

DynaCAD will provide radiologists with more detailed information for breast MRI exams to assist clinicians in detecting disease earlier and streamline workflow by managing the large volume of images involved in current studies. More...

"Breast cancer is the most common malignancy among women in the United States and is second only to lung cancer in all cancer-related deaths,” said Nancy Gillen, vice president, MRI Division, Siemens Medical Solutions. "It is essential to identify and administer treatment at an early stage.”

The CAD system consists of five functional modules: the DynaMatch, a selectable two-dimensional (2D)/three-dimensional (3D) image registration for suppression of image motion artifacts and automatic image subtraction; the DynaMap, a functional color parameter map to visualize changes in MRI signal intensity; DynaMIP, for interactive functional 3D visualization; the DynaFlow, which provides interactive access to time-intensity curve data; and the DynaLoc, an automatic calculation of target coordinates for MRI-guided interventions.

The integrated solution of DynaCAD and Siemens' MRI systems will
be distributed by Siemens on a worldwide basis for Magnetom MRI users and includes the Magnetom Trio, Magnetom Espree, Magnetom Avanto, and Magnetom Symphony.
