Siemens Medical Solutions' (Erlangen, Germany) Somatom Emotion continues to demonstrate that it is one of the most successful systems in computed tomography (CT) history.

Highlighting its exceptional effectiveness, Jackson Hospital (Montgomery, AL, USA), a 379-bed facility, has installed the 5,000th Somatom Emotion CT system, a compact and powerful scanner to take everyday, routine CT applications to a higher level. More...
This is the second Emotion CT installed at Jackson Hospital in recent months, both of which are the 16-slice version of the Somatom Emotion, the latest and most powerful edition of this scanner.

"The Somatom Emotion 16 allows us not only to improve the patient experience, but also to address the more demanding needs of the physicians,” said Vicky Jones, vice president of operations, Jackson Hospital. "The technology, which generates detailed images in a significantly short period of time, ultimately provides our patients with more accurate diagnoses and our staff with improved throughput.”

The system performs routine clinical CT with great speed, efficiently integrating high quality imaging applications into daily clinical practice. With the Emotion's wide-ranging flexibility, clinicians are able to perform routine examinations, such as chest, abdomen, and head, with the option for more advanced applications--like syngo Neuro DSA (digital subtraction angiography)--which greatly improve the diagnostic workflow.

"The 5,000th install is further validation that the Emotion platform is the most widely implemented and accepted CT system in the world,” said Scott Goodwin, vice president, CT Division, Siemens Medical Solutions. "By providing a full range of capabilities and excellent image quality at a minimal life cycle cost, the Somatom Emotion 16 allows community hospitals, diagnostic imaging centers, and private practices to provide their patients with access to the latest and most advanced technology in CT.”
