GE Medical Systems (Milwaukee, WI, USA) has formed a new company called Information Technologies to help healthcare providers manage images and clinical information more productively and improve patient care. More...
Greg Lucier, previously vice president and general manager of GE Medical Systems' Global Services, has been named president and CEO of the new venture.

The new company will provide a broad range of radiology, cardiology, patient monitoring, clinical information systems, Internet-based benchmarking, and performance management services. The core of the company will consist of internally developed GE technologies and several strategic acquisitions made by GE Medical Systems over the past three years, including Lockheed Martin Medical Imaging systems, Marquette Medical Systems, Mecon, Applicare, Innomed, and Prucka Engineering.

GE Medical created Information Technologies to build upon its leadership in diagnostic imaging and patient monitoring and help customers leverage the biggest productivity opportunity in every healthcare facility--the secure and efficient acquisition, analysis, and management of clinical data, said Lucier, who pointed out that large hospitals may have more than 50 single-purpose information systems that do not interact with one another.
