The first international conference on disaster and military medicine (DiMiMED) will be held during THE MEDICA International Trade Fair with Congress – World Forum for Medicine, to be held from November 20–23, 2013, in Düsseldorf (Germany).

Participants from all over the world will explain organizational structures, forms of international cooperation, and duties, as well as working conditions and the resulting requirements for medical technology. More...
On the first day, military physicians will present the demands they place on medical technology. Speakers will include Major General (ret) Roger Van Hoof, MD, secretary General of the International Committee on Military Medicine (ICMM; Brussels, Belgium) and Captain Andreas Dierich, deputy director of the NATO Centre of Excellence for Military Medicine, among others.

The second day of the conference will be dedicated to networking, allowing participants and industry representatives to exchange experiences. A tour of the MEDICA is planned, leading the group of military and disaster physicians to the booths of exhibitors who presented their special solutions as part of the first conference day. Medical technology companies such as Toshiba, FareTec, F. Stephan Medizintechnik, and FLOMOR will present their products. The DiMiMED conference will be held on November 21–22, 2103, and the conference language will be English.

“With this conference, we want to demonstrate to all participants that they will meet their target groups at MEDICA,” said Heike Lange, managing director for the conference organizer BETA Verlag und Marketinggesellschaft (Bonn, Germany). “The potential of military medicine is often underestimated. The medical technology industry which is represented with a complete range of products and services at MEDICA 2013 offers suitable devices and solutions for each individual situation in the field of military and disaster medicine.”

MEDICA regularly features around 4,500 exhibitors from around the world in the largest and most comprehensive product display in the industry, and draws around 130,000 visitors from over 100 countries every year. Numerous special events, an international conference and forum program, and 19 exhibition halls turn MEDICA into one of the focal events of the worldwide medical trade.
