Medical Fair India 2014, India’s premier trade fair for hospitals, health centers, and clinics, was characterized by international contacts, strong buying interest, and dialogue among experts. More...

The 2014 event, held at the Bombay Convention & Exhibition Center (BCEC; Mumbai, India) hosted a total of 443 exhibitors and 8,013 registered trade visitors, further establishing its position as the most important medical event for the Indian market. The product portfolio included innovations from around the world which specifically target the Indian healthcare market, with exhibitors presenting a spectrum of products that included medical technology, hospital, health clinic, and pharmacy equipment and furnishings, as well as rehabilitation technology.

In addition to the 142 domestic exhibitors, the fair also hosted country group exhibits from China, Germany, Korea, Malaysia and Taiwan, as well as a US pavilion. These pavilions were joined by international exhibitors from other countries such as Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Indonesia, and South Africa, further emphasizing the international significance of Medical Fair India 2014. Local partners included the Association of Diagnostic Manufacturers of India (ADMI; Goa, India), the Indian Medical Surgical and Healthcare Industry Trade Association (MSAHITA; Mumbai; India), the Indian Association of Sports Medicine, and the Indian Association of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

“The organization on such a massive scale is one reason why the trade fair has been getting bigger every year. India is becoming a major hub in the field of medical devices, and therefore even the government has recognized it by putting it on the priority list,” said Deepak Dave, vice president of MSAHITA. “A new bill proposes new standards regarding medical technology. This law would make it possible for the industry to serve the healthcare sector more quickly and efficiently, and with more certainty.”

A three-day conference and the two-day medical forum held concurrently complemented the Medical Fair India 2014 exhibition, hosting renowned international speakers from the healthcare industry that presented new discoveries in the areas of healthcare and medical technology. The next Medical Fair India will take place from March 21–23, 2015, at Pragati Maidan (New Delhi, India), once again organized by Messe Düsseldorf (Germany).
