Amersham Renames Imaging and Life Science Units

By HospiMedica staff writers
Posted on 18 Oct 2001
The diagnostic imaging and radiotherapy business of Amersham plc (London, UK), formerly called Nycomed-Amersham Imaging, has been renamed Amersham Health. More...
Formed from the merger of Amersham Healthcare and Nycomed's imaging business in October 1997, the unit comprises contrast agents used in diagnostic imaging-- for cardiology, neurology, and oncology applications-- and radiotherapy products, including brachytherapy and pain palliation.

Amersham has also renamed its life sciences business, formed from the merger of Amersham Life Sciences and Pharmacia Biotech in August 1997, Amersham Biosciences. This unit focuses on high-throughput systems for gene and protein analysis for drug screening and on systems for laboratory and industrial scale purification and production of biopharmaceuticals.
