To meet the constantly changing needs of health-care providers around the world, GE Medical Systems (Waukesha, WI, USA) has announced a strategic change in its organizational structure. More...
The new structure will comprise three dedicated organizations: Healthcare Services, Technology, and Information Technology (IT).

Healthcare Services will include asset services, business services, clinical services, IT services, and financial services. GE expects this to be the fastest growing segment of the company and projects that it will contribute more than 50% of GE's total revenue by 2003. "This new business is the perfect complement to our strengths in medical imaging and information technology and gives our customers access to integrated solutions to meet their clinical and business needs,” says Joe Hogan, president and CEO of GE Medical Systems.

The second segment, Technology, will comprise GE's medical imaging business, which the company is expanding to bolster product development and distribution across medical imaging modalities. The third segment, Information Technologies, is designed to help healthcare providers better manage clinical information and images, improve operational performance, and streamline patient care through the use of advanced software and other technologies in cardiology, patient monitoring, image management, clinical communications, and consultative services.
