Kodak Forms New Information Systems Unit

By HospiMedica staff writers
Posted on 25 Oct 2000
Eastman Kodak Company (Rochester, NY, USA) has announced that its Health Imaging (HI) Division has formed a new information systems unit incorporating its PACS business and the recently acquired Computer Knowledge Inc. More...
(CKI), a small provider of digital radiology information systems in Iceland.

The new business unit will be called PARIS, an amalgam of PACS and RIS (radiology information system), and will comprise Health Imaging's PACS subsidiary, Cemax-Icon (Fremont, CA), and CKI, offering both image-management and information-management systems. The new business will have its headquarters in Fremont, CA (USA).

The CKI acquisition cements a long-standing relationship. For the past seven years, Health Imaging has served as exclusive distributor of CKI's RIS 2010, a complete information system that enables health-care facilities to electronically produce, route, and maintain patient records, requests for procedures, and other key documents. HI is already integrating Kodak PACS offerings with the RIS 2010 to create image-information management systems for hospitals and other health-care centers.

The acquisition of CKI fits perfectly into our product mix, said Martin M. Coyne II, president, Health Imaging, and senior vice president, Eastman Kodak, allowing customers to choose information management solutions from Kodak that are engineered to work with PACS.
