Digital Imaging Solutions for Orthopedic Surgeons

By HospiMedica staff writers
Posted on 06 Mar 2003
A family of digital imaging solutions specifically designed for orthopedic surgeons is the result of an agreement among Galen Orthopedic Technologies (New Orleans, LA, USA), Sectra-Imtec (Linkoping, Sweden), and Konica Medical Imaging, Inc. More...
(Wayne, NJ, USA).

The cornerstone of the family is the Galen OrthoStation, a workstation based on Sectra's PACS workstation, for digital templating and bone mineral density analysis. Galen and Sectra have adapted Sectra's technology to include a suite of tools specifically designed to meet the unique clinical requirements of orthopedic surgeons. Other components include the Galen Digital Surgeon System, which combines the Ortho Xpress CR (computed tomography) system of Konica or digital radiography with the workstation.

"We feel that the specific needs of the orthopedic practice have been overlooked by many traditional PACS vendors,” said Joel Rosenfield, president of Galen. "Working with ‘best-of-breed' partners, we have created a new class of solutions that can help orthopedic surgeons deliver the highest standard of care in a cost-effective manner.”
