Patent rights related to minimally invasive approaches in general, thorascopic, and laparoscopic surgery have been licensed to United States Surgical (Norwalk, CT, USA) by Peter M. More...
Bonutti, M.D., a pioneer in minimally invasive technologies.

US Surgical and Dr. Bonutti plan to work together to offer licensed rights under certain Bonutti and US Surgical patents to companies involved in spine, orthopedic, and cardiovascular specialties. The scope of this combined portfolio encompasses more than 100 patents. US Surgical is a leading manufacturer of endomechanical products, laparoscopic devices, and a line of sutures.

Dr. Bonutti, a pioneer in minimally invasive knee replacement, is the inventor of balloon dissection technology. He also created a novel joint rehabilitation system, a minimally invasive soft-tissue fixation system, an endoscopic ultrasonic suturing system, and an endoscopic fracture repair system. Dr. Bonutti continues to focus on surgical techniques, instrumentation, and implants that enhance minimally invasive surgery.
