Two-Screen Monitor for Perioperative Care

By HospiMedica staff writers
Posted on 29 Apr 2004
A patient-monitoring system with two screens is designed to meet the needs of multiple caregivers who require immediate, simultaneous access to different types of information at the point of care. More...
The system was introduced at the World Congress of Anesthesiologists in Paris (France) in April 2004.

Called the Infinity Omega, the monitoring system ensures uninterrupted display of real-time data at the point of care and shows expanded monitoring with continuous trending on a second "smart” display. This provides for a view of the total patient. The display more than doubles the traditional number of monitoring parameters and waveforms that can be viewed simultaneously and gives each clinician instant access to a preferred screen configuration. The system is the product of Draeger Medical (Lubeck, Germany).

"Infinity Omega expands patient monitoring by providing both real-time data and a comprehensive view of the patient's condition,” said Dave Camlin, group product manager for the Infinity system at Draeger.

The company also introduced two new works in progress: the Trident pod with neuromuscular transmission monitoring (NMT) and the BISx pod. The latter incorporates the Bispectral Index of Aspect Medical Systems (Natick, MA, USA), which indicates the effects of sedation on the brain.
