Medical Illumination International, a premier manufacturer of medical lighting equipment, has announced the acquisition of Nuvo, a supplier of medical equipment for the operating room market. More...
Financial details were not disclosed.

Medical Illumination (San Fernando, CA, USA), founded in 1978, manufactures surgical, procedure, and exam lighting equipment and accessories for the medical and dental fields. Nuvo (Erie, PA, USA), founded in 1997, is a supplier of surgical lights, integrated video monitoring systems, equipment management systems, and surgical tables. The merger will further expand the Nuvo division's product portfolio of lighting to the acute care and ambulatory markets.

"Nuvo has a product portfolio and sales channel that is a perfect complement to ours, which we believe will yield greater opportunities for both companies to increase market penetration both in the U.S. and internationally,” said Alan Kiviat, president of Medical Illumination. "Perhaps more importantly are the synergies this merger brings in terms of enhanced product offerings, expanded distribution, and the increased capabilities available through the combined company resources. This event is a major step in our goal of becoming the most diverse manufacturer of medical lighting worldwide.”

"We are extremely excited to be joining forces with Medical Illumination,” said Tom Peterson, President of Nuvo. "The cultures of our companies are a perfect fit with each other. We are confident this will translate to even better products and services for our customers.”
