A new intraoperative cranial stabilization system provides real-time computed tomography (CT) scanning for both invasive and noninvasive applications for head and neck surgery. More...
It can easily be adapted to all standard operating tables, and provides optimum patient positioning.

NeuroLogica Corp. (Danvers, MA, USA) in partnership with pro med instruments, Inc. (PMI; Freiburg, Germany) announced the launch of the Doro CereTom intraoperative cranial stabilization system. The Doro CereTom was recently presented at the Congress of Neurological Surgeons annual meeting in San Diego, CA, USA, September 15-20 2007.

It is not uncommon with neurosurgical procedures for the patient to receive a CT scan immediately following surgery. This can delay the completion of the procedure and also involves moving the patient out of the operating room and transporting them to the hospital's scanner. The Doro CereTom allows for precision monitoring without disrupting the procedure. In addition, the high-quality images may improve clinical outcome due to real-time diagnostic information while enabling greater patient safety and comfort. The system is adjustable to fit both adult and pediatric patients.

"The portability of the CereTom in combination with the Doro cranial stabilizer allows for improved operating room workflow while providing increased patient safety,” said Eric Bailey, president and co-founder of NeuroLogica Corp. "The high-quality images enables physicians to make more informed decisions when time is of the essence.”

NeuroLogica develops, manufactures, and markets advanced medical imaging equipment.

PMI designs and manufactures cranial stabilization, brain retractor systems, and accessories for neurosurgery, which are marketed worldwide in over 50 countries.
